2. The Forest Drive at Kilbroney Park will be closed to vehicles from Monday 13 January 2025 until Easter 2025 (Monday to Friday) to facilitate Forest Service timber haulage. The Forest Drive will re-open at weekends.

Things to do in Kilbroney Park
Step Into Narnia: Inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, the Narnia Trail is a magical half-mile walk featuring interactive displays and iconic characters like Mr. Tumnus, Aslan, and the White Witch. Enter through the wardrobe door and experience a land where it is always winter!

Cloughmore Trail & The Big Stone: Hike to the legendary Cloughmore Stone, a massive boulder said to have been hurled by the giant Fionn Mac Cumhaill in anger at a Scottish giant, who foolishly took his sword off him. Enjoy breathtaking views over Carlingford Lough along this challenging yet rewarding trail.

Mountain Biking Adventure: The Rostrevor Mountain Bike Trails (cross country mountain bike trails are currently closed due to storm damage) offer some of the best biking experiences in Ireland and the UK. With thrilling descents and stunning scenery, it’s perfect for adrenaline seekers. The trails are run by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council with an uplift provided by Life Adventure Centre.
Scenic Walks & Nature Trails: Explore forest walks, river crossings, the popular Fallows Trail, Red Bog Lake, all rich with local wildlife like red squirrels and deer. There are plenty of paths to follow in Kilbroney Park, including the Narnia Trail and the Tree Trail. From the Cloughmore Car Park there are three waymarked trails varying in length from 1.25 miles to 4.5 miles.
Play Park & Sports Facilities: Two exciting play parks cater to children of all ages. Enjoy football pitches, tennis courts (booking required and charges apply, for access contact the Visitor Information building), and picnic areas for a relaxing day out. Barbeques are permitted at the designated picnic benches. Also there is a bespoke BBQ area (with charcoal pits and covered seating) close the play park that is availabe to hire. Camping & Caravan Park: Stay overnight at the Kilbroney Caravan Park, featuring modern facilities and breathtaking surroundings. Visitor Facilities
Kilbroney Park Visitor Information Building - Reception is located near the main car park and includes self-guided visitor information and maps, cafe and toilets with showers (including baby changing and accessible facilities).
Onsite Café - Enjoy award-winning food at Synge & Byrne, perfect for families and teens looking for a delicious meal after a day of exploring.
Room Hire for Events & Meetings The Cloughmore Centre (located close to the car park) offers fantastic facilites for small events and meetings for up to 60 people. The Centre has a meeting room with separate catering facilities and toilets (including accessible toilet with shower). Wifi is available as well as a ceiling mounted projector and screen. Take a short stroll into Rostrevor Village, where you’ll find charming cafes, restaurants, and Good Craic Gifts & Souvenirs for a special memento of your trip. If your chef has the day off, the village of Rostrevor has numerous places to eat just a short stroll from the park.

Kilbroney Park is located on the Shore Road in Rostrevor, County Down BT34 3AA (just off the A2 between Newry and Kilkeel).
Directions:
From Belfast to Kilbroney Park (travel takes 60 minutes approximately) : Take the A1 to Newry then follow A2 through Warrenpoint into Rostrevor. The entrance to Kilbroney Park is on the left.
From Dublin to Kilbroney Park (travel takes 90 minutes approximately): Take the M1 to Newry. Take exit for B113 from A1. Follow A2 from Newry through Warrenpoint into Rostrevor. The entrance to Kilbroney Park is on the left Postcode: BT34 3AA.
Opening hours:
Kilbroney Park opening hours are: March and October 9am - 6pm, April and September 9am - 8pm, May to August 9am - 9pm and November to February 9am - 5pm. The Park is closed on Christmas Day.

Are dogs allowed in Kilbroney Park?
Dogs are welcome in Kilbroney Park but must be under control at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the Play Park and must be kept on a lead in Kilbroney Caravan Park.
