Down Cathedral
Dominating the Downpatrick skyline, the grounds of Down Cathedral have been used for Christian worship for over 1600 years. Parts of today’s cathedral date back to the 12th century, while the main structure was built in the 1600s.
No matter your creed, Down Cathedral offers a calming and tranquil space for reflection. Its whitewashed interior houses ecclesiastical artefacts from throughout the centuries, including 12th century stone figurines, and a replica of an 8th century Celtic cross.

In 1932, the church was rebuilt to honour its 1500th anniversary.
The Healing Waters of Struell
For almost 2000 years, locals and visitors alike have flocked to Struell to visit its miraculous healing waters. Struell Wells are said to have been blessed by Patrick himself, who once held a night-time vigil on the site.
The present wells and bathing houses have stood on the site since at least the 12th century.
