Vehicle Hire
Travelling around the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion by road couldn’t be easier. You can bring your own car over by ferry, hire a motorhome to live under the stars or hop on your bike and experience the open road on two wheels.
Just be sure to keep in mind which side of the road you’re on. In Northern Ireland, we drive on the same side of the road as the rest of the UK and Ireland – on the left!
Of course, we appreciate that once you arrive here your stay might just get extended! With lots of options to hire a car for a day, week, month or even longer, car rental in Newry couldn’t be easier.
Remember to check the terms and conditions of your hire vehicle before setting off.
Motorhome and Minibus Hire
Prefer to have your hire vehicle with a bed in tow? The Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion has a number of motorhome hire businesses to get you on your way and lend a hand if you need help when on the road. We R Motorhome is a friendly, professional service from booking to handing the motorhome back at the end of your trip.
Or why not hire a minibus with a knowledgeable, local guide? Mourne Road Tours has a range of three 8-seater minibuses available, catering for larger groups.
Cycle and E-Bike Hire
Of course, not all vehicles have four wheels! The Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion has lots of options to hire a bike or an e-bike (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles ) if you’d prefer a little bit of peddle power assistance.
You can use an EAPC on public roads in Northern Ireland, but the vehicle has to be licensed and you must wear a safety helmet. You will also need to hold a valid provisional or full Driving Licence (Category Q). Full details are provided on the NI Direct website.
The Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion has lots of local companies offering bike hire. Bike Mourne provides a professional and friendly bike hire and guided ride service within the Mourne Mountains. Life Adventure Centre, and Clearsky Adventure Centre all offer a similar service.
So, what’s stopping you? You could be peddling the same terrain as the Gran Fondo riders when they cycled through the Mourne Mountains and along the shores of Strangford Lough.
