EYFS & Key Stage 1

Our Early Years and Key Stage 1 programme will capture the imagination of your young people. The Education Team includes lots of interactive elements and games to help each group make meaningful connections with the natural heritage of Castlewellan Historic Demesne. 

Natural Art – Go on a scavenger hunt to collect natural materials and make individual and group artwork.

Super Senses – Children will explore their senses surrounded by the sights, smells and sounds of the woodland and Annesley Gardens.

Marvelous Minibeasts – What's hiding in the undergrowth? Children will search microhabitats, learn to identify different mini-beasts, and discover where they sit in the food chain.

Brilliant Birds – Can you spot the Castlewellan woodpecker? Children will go birdwatching, learn about why birds can fly and build their own nests out of natural materials.
