What is the local currency?
The Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion has the same currency as the rest of Northern Ireland and uses the pound sterling (£). All major credit cards and contactless payment are in general use across the region.
Will I be able to use Euro?
Most large stores will accept Euro currency, although it’s best to ask first to confirm if there will be a charge attached to this service and the exchange rate. It’s usually best to plan ahead and bring sterling currency as smaller businesses may not except Euro, or may not give the best exchange rate compared to banks, post offices etc.
Local banks and Post Offices across the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion will be able to advise on foreign exchange services and up-to-date rates.
