TRY HIKING - Eagle Mountain & Shanlieve

End of Sandy Brae, Attical, County Down, BT344ST
Looking over the Mournes

About

Meeting at the end of Sandy Brae, Attical - make sure you park in a sensible place to not block the farmer's access - we'll do a kit check before heading off up the mountain track, on easy angle gravel paths.

The path soon begins to steepen towards the Eagle / Slievemoughanmore Col, where we walk underneath the most impressive cliff faces in the entire Mourne range - the Great Gully.

After a break, we head steeply up the hill, before reaching the twin summit of Eagle and Shanlieve. From here, views are simply spectacular, overlooking Carlingford Lough to the south and the entire Mourne range to the North.
