Visitors enjoying 'Illumaphonium: halo' interactive light and sound installation in Newry City this February.

About

Illumaphonium:Halo arrives in Newry City this February!

Created by Michael Davis, this dynamic and interactive multi-sensory light and sound installation will illuminate and make sound when the pieces are touched. The work will be lit from 5pm to 10pm each night in Sugar Island and outside Newry Town Hall.

Join us outside Newry Town Hall for the grand switch on of Illumaphonium:Halo on Friday 2 February 2024 at 7pm with a performance by Maiden Voyage.

The installation has been created to bring people together into a fun and spontaneous music making experience.  It is made up of a number of musical sculptures consisting of more than a hundred illuminated chime bars, each of which respond to touch, with ever changing patterns of light and sound, spreading out like waves over the instrument’s surface.

The installation will run until Thursday 29 February.
