Winter Solstice Retreat

Adventure Playpark at Slieve Gullion Forest Park, 89 Drumintee Road, Killeavy, County Armagh, BT35 8SW
Winter Solstice mandela

About

Solstice literally means "light standing still".

This is the perfect chance to stop and connect with the Winter Solstice light on sacred Slieve Gullion mountain. This special retreat will begin with a 2 hour Shinrin Yoku forest immersion. Forest Bathing is an evidence-based wellness practice which originated in Japan in the 1980's as a stress prevention intervention. 2 hours in the forest boosts your immunity for up to 10 days. Your forest experience will end with a tea ceremony with organic wild apple & cinnamon.

We will travel a short distance to Meigh village to Ann's quirky, creative healing space, a cosy 2nd World War hut. Relax during a nurturing lunch of hearty, home-made winter vegetable soup with freshly baked rosemary bread; spiced apple & walnut crumble with vanilla custard; a special Christmas tea (apple, clove, orange, almond & rosehip) – other tea, coffee and herbal teas will be available.

After lunch we will create a special Mandela using paint and objects derived from nature. This will support clarity, focus, energy and wisdom when setting intentions for the year ahead.

You will be virtually (based on health and safety recommendations) transported to the top of Slieve Gullion mountain to one of Ireland's most ancient and sacred sites. A stone age burial chamber, built approximately 4,000 years ago, especially for the winter solstice. Ann will support you to connect with the sacred Solstice light through a guided healing white light meditation followed by personal reflection to develop goals and affirmations for the year ahead.

Special notes for guests

Please wear warm, comfortable clothing and a few extra layers as we will be standing and sitting still in the forest, waterproofs, walking boots/shoes. Also bring a small rucksack. Ann will provide small waterproof yoga mats and other materials to support your immersion. Bring a notebook and pen for your goals and affirmations and a piece of nature for the Winter Solstice Mandela.

Let us know of any health conditions, allergies or mobility issues and we will try our best to support you.
