About

Niamh Dunne and Seán Óg Graham
The Rostrevor Folk Club at Crawfords
Monday 5 June 2023, 8pm.

'Tides is a deeply considered and generously endowed collection of original songs. Unhurried, thoughtful solo collection full of heart and soul' (The Irish Times)

"We've known for years that Niamh Dunne is one of our finest singers and this album brings her centre stage. It's a keeper and quite possibly the Irish folk album of the year." (Irish Music Magazine)

Renowned fiddle player, vocalist and songwriter Niamh Dunne and master guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Seán Óg Graham have both played on the world stage as members of multi-award-winning Irish folk band Beoga. Described by the Wall Street Journal as 'the most exciting new traditional band to emerge from Ireland this century'. Beoga were twice Grammy nominated for their albums.

The set will feature music from Niamh's highly acclaimed recent solo song album, Tides, half of which is based on story songs inspired by traditional Irish songs and half on more introspective songs. Both halves reflect her life as a musician, from her traditional roots with Traveller family, the Dunnes, up to writing with contemporary acts like Foy Vance and Ed Sheeran in recent years. Beoga co-wrote Sheeran's song, Galway Girl, the opening line of which, "she played the fiddle in an Irish band", was inspired by Niamh. Beoga were the support act on Sheeran's 2018 tour.

Tickets (£12.50) are available at Crawfords Bar (seven days from 3pm onwards), and by ringing 028 417 39911. They are also available at Belinda Cullen's Good Craic Gift shop at 13 Church Street, Rostrevor (Mon to Sat 10am – 5pm, Sunday 1pm – 5pm). Please pay cash if possible.
