About

Mick Hanly
Rostrevor Folk Club at Crawfords
Monday 15 May, 8pm

Born in Limerick, singer-songwriter Mick Hanly formed Munroe, which supported Planxty on several tours, releasing Celtic Folkweave in 1975. He recorded two acclaimed solo albums with Donal Lunny, Andy Irvine and Declan Sinnott. He then toured Ireland and Europe with Irvine. In 1983, Hanly joined Moving Hearts as a vocalist, contributing his own songs to the album Live Hearts. His album All I Remember spawned the song Past the Point of Rescue, which recently received the BMI award for 2 million radio plays in the US.

His songs have been covered by Christy Moore, Mary Black and Dolores Keane. In 2016 Mick released Homeland, reuniting him with some of Ireland's most respected musicians. The song Homeland was covered by Celtic Woman and The High Kings. His latest release, Marathon, features most of the Homeland line-up. He recently played live with Moving Hearts in Dublin.
