About
We're delighted to welcome back Maurice Leyden and Jane Cassidy, who have previously performed three sell-out concerts for the Folk Club with shows on Thomas Russell, Mary Ann McCracken and the Songs of the Mournes. This time they will be singing folk songs associated with the Ulster Linen Industry, some collected by Maurice himself, illuminating the lives of the men, women and children who worked in their cottages and in the spinning-mills and factories which once dotted the Ulster countryside. Renowned folk singers, writers and broadcasters, Jane and Maurice have a magical way of fusing song, history and storytelling into spellbinding shows. They have recorded several CDs, individually and jointly, including: Linen Songs, Silverbridge, The Tern and the Swallow, Mary Ann McCracken, Waves of Time and The Empty Road.
Tickets (£12.50) are available at Crawfords Bar (seven days from 3pm onwards), and by ringing 028 417 39911. They are also available at Belinda Cullen's Good Craic Gift shop at 13 Church Street, Rostrevor (Mon to Sat 10am – 5pm, Sunday 1pm – 5pm). Please pay cash if possible.
