Enjoy a linear historical walk through time, exploring the borderland hinterland through the prism of the sacred and secular.

Meet at Faughart Ancient graveyard. Walk in the footstep of soldiers and saints, battles and bivouacs. Gain a fascinating insight into the spiritual and historical importance in the 1600's and how it impacted present day history.

Highlights include- penitential stations of St. Brigid, the grave of Edward Bruce, the last 'High King' of Ireland and the battle site of the Gap of the North. Expect a guest speaker!

Wonderful views and Tall Tales!

The walk begins at Faughart graveyard (co-ordinates; 54.513923,- 63843668) and ends at the Kilnasaggart. The walk is downhill and lasts for approx. 2.5 hours. Terrain; Country roads and some grassland. Return transport provided to Faughart from Killnasagart.

What essentials to bring? Raingear and sturdy walking shoes/runners are recommended and suncream. Take a small snack and a drink. Suitable for children over 8+ years with strict parental supervision. Should you or a member of your party have a medical condition that may limit your safety, please contact your guide beforehand in confidence. No dogs please.

How to get there - Faughart Old Graveyard, Hill of Faughart, Dundalk, Co Louth A91 X8D3.

From Junction 18 on M1;

Travelling South; Follow signs for Dundalk, taking 2nd exit at roundabout at top of sliproad. Follow signs for Faughart taking 4th exit at roundabout. Travel across the M1, then take 2nd exit to L30097

Travelling North on A1 /M1; follow signs for Faughart and take 2nd exit off roundabout at top of sliproad to L3097.

Take sharp right corner in Lwr Faughart to stay on L3097 towards Hill of Faughart. Take 1st left after sharp corner, following sign for Hill of Faughart. Travel approx. km on this road to a large carpark on the right. Walk starts here.
