About
Candlelit Tales in Rostrevor this weekend
Hilltown Community Association are delighted to host storytellers, Candlelit Tales, to their first Co Down event, Women and Warriors in An Cuan, Rostrevor this Sunday evening.
Everyone knows that women in the ancient world had no rights, stayed at home meekly to look after their dozens of children… right? Not in Irish Mythology anyway! And certainly not the way Candlelit Tales tell it.
Join Candlelit Tales on Sunday evening in An Cuan to pay homage to the women who fought and took no prisoners. Women who struggled under curses and captivity, women who rebelled, women who rule, women who were warriors, and whose sons were warriors also. A tale of strength and tale of softness, and a tale where those aspects meet. A tale that tells of women and all that they were and all that they are.
Candlelit Tales are a group of storytellers, performers and musicians. They pay homage to the oral traditions of storytelling by telling Irish myths to a live audience, with live music. The group was founded by brother-sister storytelling duo Aron and Sorcha Hegarty eight years ago. Driven by a passion for Irish mythology, they started retelling stories with live musical accompaniment.
They tell the tales they love with wit, charm and guile. Live music is the heartbeat of all their performances, and an original music score composed by a team of talented musicians drives the rhythm of their storytelling, weaving through the tale and sweeping the audience away.
