A Day of Discovery
The saying “every day brings something different” was very true last week, as we teamed up with Newry, Mourne & Down District Council for a familiarisation trip to explore some of our local attractions and experiences.
The day began with a hearty breakfast at the stunning Slieve Donard Resort & Spa, in Newcastle, where we learned about their recent extensive refurbishment and got a sneak peak into the new bedrooms, I mean, who doesn’t like a snoop around other people’s rooms!
After breakfast, we hopped on the bus and set off for Castlewellan, where we indulged in some retail therapy at Blue Beans Craft shop, a real treasure trove of local crafts and products, this is a must visit for all our visitors and guests.
Next, we visited Life Adventure Centre where we were introduced to all their exciting outdoor activities, and shown the impressive collection of bicycles, paddle boards, kayaks, and a great insight into how visitors can book online.
After a morning of adventure, we enjoyed a relaxing lunch at Hillyard House Hotel where we had the opportunity to chat and share experiences and exchange valuable information.
Our journey continued with a visit to Dundrum, where we learned how to make delicious wheaten bread and all about the home baking experiences offered by Mrs C’s Kitchen. We were also given a sample of her delectable treats, which were absolutely yummy!
To top of the day, we stopped by the Burrendale Hotel, where we were given a tour of the newly refurbished Cottage Bar and extensive facilities including the swimming pool and gym areas, which were fantastic.
A huge thank you to the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion team for bringing us together and facilitating the trip and giving us the opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas, and a special thank must also go to our driver from Rooney Coaches for safely navigating us through the day’s adventures.
A lovely memorable day and a great way to experience, just a fraction of what our beautiful area has to offer whilst forging new friendships and connections.
