The plight of pollinators is well known. Loss of habitat for nesting and foraging has meant there has been a dramatic decline in many of our much-loved species. To support the native black honeybee two natural log hives were installed within the park in January 2024. These hives mimic a honeybee’s natural nesting site and are located high in a tree. As well as providing a much-needed habitat for the bees the hives are an excellent way of educating our young visitors all about pollinators.
