Newry City Christmas Lights Switch on will take place in Newry City Centre on Thursday 21 November 2024 from 6pm – 8.30pm in Marcus Square and Hill Street.

Enjoy an array of free family fun, including festive crafts, face-painting, and thrilling fairground rides. Sing along to live music from the Uplifted Gospel Choir and The Nooks, who will bring holiday cheer to the stage. Don’t miss the heartwarming Santa Run starting at 6pm, raising funds for the Southern Area Hospice. At 7.30 pm, gather round as Santa lights up Newry with our beautiful Christmas display! This event is a fantastic way for the community to come together to celebrate Christmas and encourage shopping locally in this festive season.

Newry City Christmas Lights Switch on running order:

5.55pm – Anthony Fitzpatrick on stage

6pm - Santa Fun Run (hosted by Southern Area Hospice) 

6.15pm – 7pm Performance be The Uplifting Gospel Choir (with Special Guest Emily Flanagan)

7.10pm – Performance by The Nooks

7.20pm - Welcome by Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Pete Byrne, the arrival of Santa Claus and then countdown to the lights switch on.

7.30pm – Christmas Lights Switch On

7.35pm – 8.30pm Performance by The Nooks

9pm – Event finishes
