Meelmore & Meelbeg Hike (7-7s Range)

Meelmore Lodge, 52 Trassey Road, Bryansford, County Down, BT330QB
hard at it, reaching the top

About

Meeting at the beautiful cafe and campsite at Meelmore Lodge, we'll do a brief of the day and kit check for the hill, then get straight onto the hill for a great day ahead.

After leaving the Lodge (stocked up with coffee and traybakes), we make a beeline for the huge cliff of Spellack on the side of Meelmore. . . But don't worry we won't be climbing it! We'll take the line to the side of it, zigzagging up the shoulder and onto the top of Meelmore, where we're greated by the now familar site of the Mourne Wall, with the summit ahead - and the next summit in sight!

After some grub and hot drinks, we descend Meelmore along the wall for a bit before hiking back up the other side to summit Meelbeg, grabbing two of the Mournes 7 7s within an hour of each other! After the obligatory pics and videos, we'll drop down a different side of the mountain before joining the Mourne Way route and a nice easy walk back to Meelmore for another cuppa before heading home victorious - and pretty tired too we'd say!

The whole trip out should take around 5 hours including breaks, and is suitable for anyone with a determined mindset and moderate level of fitness.
