About

STUDIO NIGHTS: Fil Campbell & Tom McFarland

Songs to make you sing and get you thinking

Beautifully contrasting vocals, a unique mix of guitar and inventive percussion, original, traditional and contemporary songs, engaging choruses and the Irish gift of chat and craic – little wonder the distinctive sound of Co Fermanagh based Fil Campbell and Tom McFarland has won fans around the world since they began performing as a duo in the early 90s.

With their ninth studio album released in 2023 and several project recordings, including three CDs of Irish traditional and folk songs from the TV series Songbirds, their diverse range of songs – powerful, intimate and quirky – continues to captivate audiences wherever they play. Fil , from Belleek in Co. Fermanagh, has been gigging regularly since she was a teenager and after studying Music and English at Queens University in Belfast has had a long career in music - as a singer, TV and radio presenter, music promoter, and voice coach. Together with her husband Tom who hails from Belfast and who has worked with artists as varied as David Knopfler, John Wright and the Sands Family, they have performed all over Europe, Ireland, the USA, Australia and UK, at festivals and folk clubs, on radio and TV.
