Book to Screen - Gone Girl

About

Is the film ever better than the book? This is a chance to compare a film adaptation of a best-seller to the original novel and chat about it.

Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl was a true global phenomenon when it came out, topping the best seller charts for months. Cleverly employing misdirection, unreliable narrators and jaw-dropping twists, her third novel is a white-knuckle ride into the heart of millennial darkness.

Does the film stand up to this magnificence?

Mark Kermode called it a 'grippingly caustic adaptation'

The Roger Ebert website said it was 'art and entertainment, a thriller and an issue, and an eerily assured audience picture.'

What do you think? Come along to find out and stay to take part in a post-movie conversation hosted by Castlewellan Librarian Winifred Lennon.
