About

Come to Castlewellan Forest Park for a fun and relaxed introduction to foraging. Participants will be guided by David Mallon from Wandering Wild Forest School, where you will be introduced to the fruits of the forest!


You will be shown how to identify various edible species and given tips on how to forage sustainably and safely, as well as sampling a taster or two.


This event is suitable for all ages but a responsible adult must accompany children.


Normal car parking charges apply

Provided FREE through the Re-rooting our past in our future project that is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

Public Transport Directions

From Belfast follow the A24 through Ballynahinch, Seaforde and Clough. In Clough follow the A25. Castlewellan Forest Park is located in the town of Castlewellan on the right. From Dublin follow the M1 to Newry. From A1 take the exit towards Newry/A28/Downpatrick/A25. Follow the A25 to Castlewellan. The Forest park is located on the left in Castlewellan town.
