About
Belinda Loftus is a local artist who uses a wide range of media and styles to explore the natural environment, ancient history and myths, political events past and present, and the impact of high finance and artificial intelligence.
There are four groups of works in this show. Lost in the Landscape commemorates those physically or mentally lost in our landscape, particularly during the Northern Ireland conflict. Home explores the complexities of the concept of home in our present world. Financial Climate comments on adverse impacts of high finance. Worldbank uses bank-styled images to advocate actions to combat climate change and destruction of ecosystems.
In 2023, Down County Museum accepted a sample of Belinda's lifetime of work, some 17 pieces. These were added to the museum's extensive fine art collection which largely contains art that relates to County Down. This includes 34 pieces that were originally held by Down Arts Centre.
