The Museum has a wonderful textile collection which celebrates special occasions, such as wedding dresses, christening robes and ceremonial uniforms. The collection charts the changing fashions of ladies’, men’s and children’s clothes through the ages, along with underwear and accessories like hats, gloves and bags. There is also a selection of uniforms of various types, military, medical, religious, emergency services and other organisations. A variety of domestic items such as bedcovers and table linen document household fashions in the 19th and 20th centuries.
