Grey Heron Townhouse is a lovely spacious 4 bedroom Period Home in the centre of Newcastle County Down, perfect for self-catering and ideal for large family groups.  It offers panoramic views over the Mourne mountains, woodlands and rivers and is minutes walking distance from Newcastle beach, shops, supermarkets, parks and restaurants. Whilst the house is in a central position in the town it provides a restful haven after a day’s outing. The modern handmade gally kitchen leads to a spacious garden where on a bright evening guests can relax with refreshments whilst enjoying the striking beauty of the Mourne Mountains. The Townhouse has a rustic charm with many original features adding character to the house such as high ceilings and original pitch pine doors and floorboards.

The owners have invested lovingly in the property decorating it with many of their own personal ornaments  and artefacts adding a real personal touch to the accommodation. The bedrooms boast top of the range beds with fresh crisp linen and pure white towels. The feather and down duvets and pillows add a real luxurious feel to one’s break away.

Just 30 miles south of Belfast and 90 miles north of Dublin, Grey Heron Townhouse is the perfect choice for touring and sightseeing. It is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

There is a range of must-visit local attractions all within close proximity to the house. The Mountains of Mourne are on its doorstep and offer fantastic walking and climbing experiences. Tollymore forest Park is a few minutes’ drive and Silent Valley, Castlewellan County Park, Murlough Bay Nature Reserve are all nearby. Two golf courses ; The Legendary Royal County Down and the Mourne Golf Club are within walking distance. Downpatrick, a stone's throw away, home to St.Patrick's Visitor Centre and Grave, (A world Christian Heritage Site). The surrounding area also offers countless opportunities for horse riding, fishing, sailing, mountaineering and windsurfing.

John, a native of Newcastle, has immense experience as a poet and actor. Liz has a flair and passion for creative cookery and meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds. She has a great knowledge of the local area and takes pride in sharing it with guests. John and Liz are both seasoned travellers and have also lived in the Middle East for a number of years They both exude a true spirit of bonhomie and goodwill as they interact with their guests in order to ensure that they have a truly unforgettable and ambient experience in Grey Heron Townhouse.
